Local Governing Committee
Chair of the Governing body
I have been a Foundation Governor since September 2009 and took up the position as Chair in September 2013. Previously I had been a Governor at four different schools in the Archdiocese of Westminster for over fifteen years. I am a Parishioner at St Peter`s Church, East Wittering. I have taught in a variety of schools for over 30 years, but now retired. I am married with three children and my eldest daughter teaches at St Richard`s school in Chichester.
I was excited to be appointed a Foundation Governor in September 2013 and to be given the opportunity to contribute back to the school I attended as a student many years ago. In September 2014 I was appointed as Vice Chair. I am a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption in Bosham. I am married with two children who are currently enjoying their studies at SPH.
My name is Mary Craig and I was first appointed as a Parent Governor in December 2011. I am now a Foundation Governor and Chair of the Achievement and Catholic Ethos Committee. I have a son in the school who joined SPH in September 2011. I am a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bognor Regis. We moved to Westergate in 2008 with my husband`s job, having previously lived in Warwickshire and Northamptonshire for almost 14 years. I am originally from County Mayo which is in the West of Ireland.
I am delighted to be able to support St Philip Howard Catholic High School through the role of Foundation Governor. I am a Physiotherapist and my family and I are parishioners at St Richard`s, Slindon. Our three children have benefitted enormously from their time at St Philip Howard. I look forward to working to support ongoing success for all St Philip Howard`s students and the school`s future as an outstanding Catholic School.
I was very pleased to be appointed as a Foundation Governor in January 2016. I attended SPH as a pupil, I`m looking forward to working with everyone at the school. I work as a receptionist in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Office. I am married with 2 children, our daughter is currently a pupil at the school. We are parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bognor Regis.
My name is Kathie Hallam and I was appointed a Foundation Governor in November 2015. Three of my children are currently students at SPH and we hope our fourth child will be joining in a couple of years time. As a business professional for many years (I am a HR Director for a national law firm) I strongly believe that each child should have access to the best education possible as it is this which will provide them with a strong foundation on which to build a happy, fulfilled and successful life.
Fr Charles Howell
I am a priest of the diocese, appointed to the parish of Storrington in September 2013. Ordained in 2000, I have ministered in Guildford, Eastbourne and the conurbation of Reigate, Redhill and Merstham, and served on the Diocesan Council of Priests and the Steering Committee of the National Conference of Priests. Previous appointments have included the normal round of sacramental and pastoral care of schools, but this is my first experience as a Foundation Governor.
I was appointed by the Governing Body as a co-opted Governor in June 2014 because of my specialist knowledge and experience in all matters relating to school buildings. My support is much broader though, with an interest in the future of all young people.
I am really pleased to join the Governing Body of SPH. I have been a parent at SPH since 2012 (my third child is joining in September 2017), and I have been impressed by the quality of the education and the nurturing of our fantastic young people. In my working life, as an HR Manager for the County Council, I have a real interest in diversity and engagement, and so I am excited to be working with the school in these areas. I am a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bognor.
I am Sarah Schaeffer and have worked at St Philip Howard for eleven years and also have five years primary school experience. All my four children have attended SPH with the eldest three now at University and my youngest currently in Sixth Form. I live in Storrington and am a parishioner of Our Lady of England. I am a relatively new Staff Governor and work on the Achievement and Catholic Ethos committee. I feel extremely privileged to be part of the school with all its amazing young people and staff and intend to do the very best I can to support each and every one of them, using my faith to guide me.
By law, the Governing Body must publish on the school's website its register of business interests which is available to view by clicking the download below...here
