Our Local Governing Committee
Chair of Governors
My name is Mary Craig and I was first appointed as a Parent Governor in December 2011. I am now a Foundation Governor and Chair of the Achievement and Catholic Ethos Committee. I have a son in the school who joined SPH in September 2011. I am a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bognor Regis. We moved to Westergate in 2008 with my husband`s job, having previously lived in Warwickshire and Northamptonshire for almost 14 years. I am originally from County Mayo which is in the West of Ireland.
Vice Chair of Governors
I was appointed a Foundation Governor in November 2017 and look forward to serving the school and the community. I am married with two children, one of who is a current student and the other is hoping to attend from September 2018. I am a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Bognor Regis. I attended the school in the 1990s and am astonished at how much it has changed & improved and aim to ensure its success continues in the future.
I was very pleased to be appointed as a Foundation Governor in January 2016. I attended SPH as a pupil, I`m looking forward to working with everyone at the school. I work as a receptionist in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Office. I am married with 2 children, our daughter is currently a pupil at the school. We are parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bognor Regis.
I was appointed a Foundation Governor in March 2019 and look forward to serving the school and pupils in this capacity. I am married with three children, two of whom are current pupils and the other is hoping to attend from September 2020. I am a parishioner of St Joseph's in Rustington. Professionally I work for one of the Big Four accountancy firms specialising in assisting companies and their employees with the UK tax implications of working in or outside the UK. I was taught by Jesuits at Wimbledon College and believe that all children should be given every opportunity whilst at school to achieve their full potential.
I was very pleased to be appointed as Parent Governor in November 2017 and to be allowed to contribute to the school my son attends. I am married with three Children and I work for a telecommunications company designing and implementing software solutions for call centres. Without a solid educational foundation I would not find myself in the position of enjoying the work I do and am keen to ensure each child has access to, and feels the benefits of, a core set of skills St Philip Howard can provide.
I am a parent governor and have two sons; one is a student at SPH and the other is at Primary school. The parent / teacher / child relationship is crucial to steer our children along through these crucial formative years in their lives and I believe the local governing committee at St Phillip Howard helps ensure the success of this, so I am very happy to have been appointed to this position. Professionally I am an IT Project Manager, and enjoy running or mountain biking at the weekend.
I was appointed by the Governing Body as a co-opted Governor in June 2014 because of my specialist knowledge and experience in all matters relating to school buildings. My support is much broader though, with an interest in the future of all young people.
I am really pleased to join the Governing Body of SPH. I have been a parent at SPH since 2012 (my third child is joining in September 2017), and I have been impressed by the quality of the education and the nurturing of our fantastic young people. In my working life, as an HR Manager for the County Council, I have a real interest in diversity and engagement, and so I am excited to be working with the school in these areas. I am a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bognor.
I am Sarah Schaeffer and have worked at St Philip Howard for eleven years and also have five years primary school experience. All my four children have attended SPH with the eldest three now at University and my youngest currently in Sixth Form. I live in Storrington and am a parishioner of Our Lady of England. I am a relatively new Staff Governor and work on the Achievement and Catholic Ethos committee. I feel extremely privileged to be part of the school with all its amazing young people and staff and intend to do the very best I can to support each and every one of them, using my faith to guide me.
