Physical Education

The PE Department at St Philip Howard Catholic High School strives to develop and encourage all pupils to participate and to try their best in all aspects of Physical Education. Throughout KS3 and KS4 each pupil has the opportunity to participate in a variety of team games/ individual based sports and aesthetic type performances. peWe offer a wide range of activities which include:
Athletics, Rounders,Cricket, Rugby, Fitness, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Basketball, Tennis, Netball and Football

As a department we acknowledge the importance for pupils to extend their skill through extra-curricular activity and to be given the chance to represent their school in a variety of County cups and leagues as well as National competitions.

St Philip Howard also offers a First Diploma in Sport BTEC Course for KS4 pupils as well as AS and A2 level Physical Education for those wanting to pursue one of many careers.

By the end of each pupil´s school life, we hope they would have each:
• Gained a thorough understanding of the importance of regular physical activity and the contribution it can make to a healthy and active life style
• Enhanced certain skills, and mastered their knowledge and understanding of games activities and begin to apply this knowledge in new activities
• Learned to co-operate with others in all activities
• Learned to accept winning and losing with equal grace
• Enjoyed all aspects of Physical Education
